Large Slovenian house builder chooses Compact P UVP for its first passive house

17-01-2012 | A large Slovenian manufacturer of timber prefabricated houses has chosen the Nilan Compact P UVP as the heart and lungs of its first ever passive house. The order is proof of Nilan gaining a strong foothold in yet another market and the great potential of the Compact P range of total solutions.

Since the launch of Compact P in 2010, the passive house certified total solution has gained foothold in a number of markets as several house builders’ preferred ventilation and heating solution for low-energy and passive houses.

The turn has now come to Slovenia. Rihter, a large manufacturer of timber prefabricated houses, has chosen the Compact P UVP as the heart and lungs of its first ever passive house.

- The potential of the Compact P reaches across not just borders but also barriers such as local legislation, and the Rihter order joins many others in proving this. Slovenia is a new market to us, but with the Compact P, supported by the rest of our range of high quality products, we have established a permanent presence and a healthy order book, says Key Account Manager Sabrina Arnautovic.

No need for additional heating sources

The Compact P UVP includes an outdoor air heat pump, the UVP, enabling the solution to cover all ventilation, heating and cooling needs of the house. This allows for simple installation, and the low level of energy consumption required in passive houses is achieved. This is possible without the supplementation of additional energy sources, which, together with the installation of solar cells, makes the house self-sufficient in energy.

Five features in one ventilation and heating solution

The Compact P is certified as a passive house component as only one out of a few total solutions world-wide due to its very high level of efficiency, which is a result of the combination of ventilation with passive and active heat recovery, comfort cooling, comfort heating, production of sanitary hot water and space heating.

About the passive house standard

A passive house consumes only a minimum of energy for heating and cooling, that is, a maximum of 15 kW/m2/year.

This is possible, partly due to the construction of the house, and partly to the installation of a ventilation system with heat recovery that functions as heart and lungs of the house, allowing the tightly built construction to breathe while at the same time making use of the energy in the extract air. The result is a healthy indoor climate and a markedly reduced need for heat supply, benefiting the home owner in terms of lower heating bills while protecting the environment at the same time.
